SUMMARY:Henry Lowther - Still Waters
DESCRIPTION:Doors open 7pm\, music starts at 8pm. \nLine Up: Henry Lowther (trumpet)\, Pete Hurt (tenor sax)\, Alcyona Mick (piano)\, Dave Green (bass)\,\nPaul Clarvis (drums). \nHenry Lowther’s Still Waters was born out a long association and friendship\, going back forty years\, between Henry and bassist Dave Green. They both felt that the time had arrived to play the music of their choice\, together with some of the finest jazz musicians working in Britain today. As a result Still Waters is now one of the most accomplished\, tightly ensembled and creative bands around. \nAlthough a classic quintet of two front line and rhythm\, Still Waters plays radical and original music\, ranging from gentle\, quietly pastoral and melodic music\, reflecting the band’s name\, through to dynamic\, free improvisation. Henry Lowther was born in Leicester\, England\, in 1941. Over the last 60 years Henry’s work on the British jazz scene reads like a “Who’s Who”. He has played regularly with\, amongst many others\, Gordon Beck\, Michael Garrick\, Graham Collier\, Mike Gibbs\, Pete King\, Loose Tubes\, John Surman\, John Taylor\, Stan Tracey and Kenny Wheeler \n“Meltingly attractive solos\, startling originality.” (Chris Parker\, Vortex review). \nKaramel – 4 Coburg Road\, London N22 6UJ The Karamel vegan kitchen will be serving food until 9.30pm. Email karamel8775@gmail.com to book a table. \nTickets: £5 in advance from www.musicglue.com/karamel or £10 On The Door. \nDoors open 7pm\, music starts at 8pm.

SUMMARY:Dylan V Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Doors open 7pm\, music starts at 8pm. \nDylan Vukasovic\, 18 year old guitarist\, has been playing gypsy jazz (jazz inspired by Django Reinhardt) for the past 2 years. He started playing guitar at 13 and learned most of his jazz vocabulary from Django Reinhardt\, by taking his solos and then slowing them down to work out what the master was playing and incorporating that into his playing. Aside from Django\, Dylan is a big fan of Jimmy Rosenberg\, Stochelo Rosenberg and George Benson. \nThe audience can expect to hear Django Reinhardt inspired jazz from the 1930s and 40s blended with his own style and interpretation of this music. \n£5 (advance)\, £10 OTD \nKaramel – 4 Coburg Road\, London N22 6UJ The Karamel vegan kitchen will be serving food until 9.30pm.
