SUMMARY:DB Infusion
DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 7pm\, music starts at 8pm. \nDB Infusion is a dynamic\, high energy instrumental band which blends jazz rock fusion with elements from Latin\, Flamenco\, Classical\, Middle Eastern and African music to produce a rich\, melodic and highly original sound. \nLINE UP: \nGuitars – Danny Berdichevsky; \nKeyboards – Gonzalo Carrera; \nBass – Lakis Economou; \nDrums – Ollie Usiskin. \nOver the years Danny has formed various bands from “Requiem”\, one of Israel’s first hard rock bands and “Augmented”\, jazz rock fusion\, to his London based Gypsy Jazz duo\, “Collage” and “Wizards of Wonderland” (WOW) where he incorporated elements of World music into rock. He has worked with very diverse musicians covering a wide range of styles. \nThe concept of Infusion was born over the years as Danny worked with more and more different musicians from diverse musical backgrounds and delved deeper into the many musical forms. It became ever clearer to him that he would like to record and perform music that reflects the different styles he plays and where he could involve musicians he has worked with to make music which is honest and original where musicians can express themselves sharing true ability and individuality especially in the present musical climate where set song formulae\, sampling and synthetic sounds prevail. Infusion is innovative\, honest and in constant evolution. \nVideo Link \nKaramel – 4 Coburg Road\, London N22 6UJ The Karamel vegan kitchen will be serving food until 9.30pm. Email karamel8775@gmail.com to book a table. \nTickets: £5 in advance from www.musicglue.com/karamel or £10 On The Door. \nDoors open 7pm\, music starts at 8pm.

SUMMARY:Perfect Stranger UNFINISHED BUSINESS album launch
DESCRIPTION:Photocredit: Drift Studios Pictured (L-to-R): Paul Michael\, Eddy White\, Shanti Jayasinha\, Jonas Golland\, Alcyona Mick\, Chris Sansom\, Tom Green\, Mick Foster\, Rob Millett\, Adam Bishop. \nDoors open 7pm\, music starts at 8pm. \nFusion? Prog? Third Stream? ... \n“PERFECT STRANGER is an extraordinary 10 piece band led by CHRIS SANSOM\, who conceived the band and the music it plays fifty years ago when he left university with a straight music education\, but a taste for the exciting stuff going on in creative rock and jazz. Unfortunately the band he formed to play his own compositions did not get off the ground\, despite attracting some key players from the progressive jazz scene of the time. Now the music is getting a public airing in the hands of a new PERFECT STRANGER band: out of the time warp emerges an exciting blend of rock\, jazz and twentieth century straight music. Don’t miss this unique and powerful band.” – Trevor Taylor\, Jazz 825 \n… from a reworking of Beethoven\, through complex changes of meter and a slow jazz waltz to a ‘perverted Turkish dance’ – with a bit of Mingus and Zappa along the way … \nPERFECT STRANGER\, a stellar 10-piece band\, will play music (mostly) written by Chris Sansom in 1974 (mostly) for his original band which included\, among others\, Chris Biscoe\, Dick Pearce\, Paul Nieman and the late\, legendary Pete Jacobsen. \nNow\, Chris is joined by Adam Bishop and Mick Foster (saxes/flutes/bass clarinet)\, George Jefford (trumpet/flugelhorn)\, Tom Green (trombone)\, Alcyona Mick (keyboards)\, Rob Millett (percussion)\, Eddy White (guitars)\, Paul Michael (bass) and Jonas Golland (drums). \nCome and experience PERFECT STRANGER’s return for a fourth appearance at Karamel\, with the release of their debut album\, ‘UNFINISHED BUSINESS. \nChris Sansom studied music at King’s College London in the early 1970s and has had a number of works performed over the years\, some broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Performers of his music have included the Arditti String Quartet\, the Grimethorpe Colliery Band and the two Swedish giants of the classical brass world\, Håkan Hardenberger and Christian Lindberg. In 1989\, Hardenberger and Lindberg performed Chris’s major work ‘Invisible Cities’ for trumpet\, trombone and orchestra with the BBC Philharmonic\, also on Radio 3. (‘… landscapes in which the ear can wander …’ – Paul Griffiths\, The Times; ‘… rarely short of ear-catching ideas … new realm of beauty …’ – David Fanning\, The Independent). \nHere’s a flavour of what Perfect Stranger gets up to. (Note: rehearsal quality audio!)\, beginning with a very rough recording of the 1974 band playing our signature piece\, ‘Life and Times (of a Perfect Stranger)\, part 1. \nRead more about the story of Perfect Stranger. \nRead more about Chris Sansom and his music. \nKaramel – 4 Coburg Road\, London N22 6UJ The Karamel vegan kitchen will be serving food until 9.30pm. SUMMARY:MOOD - Funky Fridays
DESCRIPTION:MOOD is a 5 member band who plays contemporary jazz\, fusion with pop sound influences. \n\n\n\n\nIntroducing MOOD band members: \nNico Frager (bass)\, Federico Di Biase (guitar/ composer)\, Jossy Russell (keyboard/ composer)\, Karlos Hall (drums) and Alexander Skinner (saxophones/ composer) comprise the jazztronica quintet MOOD.\n\n\nWe have a mutual love for boom-bap grooves and jazz-funk hooks. Mix it all up and out comes the sound of MOOD! \nStarting out as bedroom jammers in 2023\, arranging the music of their favourite fusion and soul bands\, MOOD dreamed of producing their own music and getting into the minds and hearts of music lovers. \nThey started 2024 by releasing singles After Dark\, Inspiration and Stop\, Watch and are finishing the year playing shows and building their audience. \n\n\n” ‘Stop\, Watch’ is a play on words. It’s an invitation to stop our frenetic minds and becoming aware of the everyday life experience. I wrote it as the pandemic ended. That year I spent a long time meditating and it gave me this idea for a tune.” – Federico Di Biase\n\n\n“I wrote ‘After Dark’ just before moving to London. I was just really excited about moving—looking forward to meeting new people and being part in the music scene. And I wanted to write something that reflected those feelings.” – Jossy Russell\n\n\n” ‘Inspiration’ comes out of the years I lived in South Korea. I always imagine mist gathering in the mountains and the sounds of gentle rain when I listen to this track.” – Alexander Skinner\n\n\n\nThe Karamel doors are open from 5pm. Music starts from 8pm til 10pm (inc. short interval).\n\n\nThank you for supporting your local grassroots music venue!\n\n\n\nKaramel – 4 Coburg Road\, London N22 6UJ. \nThe Karamel vegan kitchen will be serving food until 9.30pm. SUMMARY:Jim Rattigan - Nick Costley-White Duo
DESCRIPTION:Doors open 7pm\, music starts at 8pm. \nLine-up: Jim Rattigan – french horn Nick Costly-White – guitar \n“…After I’d played with Nick in Pete Hurt’s band\, I went to a gig of his at the Vortex Club. He was in a quartet with the vibes player\, Jim Hart. It was great to hear him in that small setting\, so afterwards\, I rang him up and arranged to go to his Dalston flat for a play\, and that’s how the second album of this set – I titled it “You Must Believe In Spring” – came about in October last year. Playing tunes with Nick just felt so nice. He’s got so many tunes in his repertoire\, his own and other people’s\, but he knew all the standards.” \nRattigan and Costley-White recorded 11 tunes for ‘You Must Believe In Spring’\, from Antonio Carlos Jobim’s ‘Ligia’ to the bebop classic ‘Parker’s Mood’\, to the Michel Legrand title track\, Billy Strayhorn’s ‘Lush Life’\, the ever-haunting ‘Body and Soul’ and more. This was when Rattigan mentioned these explorations to the Three Worlds Records label\, which had released three of his earlier albums. It was yet another piece of happenstance that dropped the third piece of the jigsaw of Duos into place. (extract from Rattigan’s interview with John Fordham following 3-CD release “Duos” for London Jazz News). \nThis evening\, the music will be a mix of standards\, inspired by the work of Bob Brookmeyer and Jim Hall\, and some originals written by Jim Rattigan. \nJim Rattigan has performed all over the world both as a jazz soloist and as a band member of various groups. These include the Michael Brecker Quindectet\, the Charlie Haden / Carla Bley Liberation Music Orchestra\, the McCoy Tyner Big Band\, Django Bates’ Delightful Precipice\, the Creative Jazz Orchestra with Kenny Wheeler\, Brad Mehldau with the Britten Sinfonia. Jim has toured and recorded with Mike Gibbs and the Hans Koller band with Steve Swallow and Bill Frizzell. Mark Lockheart’s Scratch Band\, Julian Arguelles Ensemble\, BBC Big Band\, Guy Barker Big Band\, the London Sinfonietta and the NDR big band in Hamburg. Jim has worked with all the major London symphony orchestras and was a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for 6 years. Jim has played on numerous film scores including several James Bond movies\, Lord Of The Rings\, Batman\, The Bourne Ultimatum and many more. He has also written music used for film T.V. and radio. Jim has worked with many pop artists including Shirley Bassey\, Tom Jones\, Paul McCartney\, George Michael\, Jim was recently awarded an ARAM from the Royal Academy for his contribution to music. jimrattigan.co.uk \nNick Costley-White is one of the most in demand guitarists on the UK jazz scene\, renowned for a deep understanding of the jazz tradition and repertoire\, alongside a virtuosic technique and progressive approach to improvising. Nick is lucky enough to have performed with some of the most renowned jazz musicians in the country including Stan Sulzmann\, Gareth Lockrane\, Jason Rebello\, Alex Garnett\, Mark Taylor\, Steve Fishwick and Jeff Williams and holds the guitar chair with the London Jazz Orchestra. Nick performs extensively throughout the UK as well as touring in Europe\, Australia\, China and South America. nickcostley-white.com \nhttps://youtu.be/FnUk_B9H6Rk https://youtu.be/r43a4plefLE \nKaramel – 4 Coburg Road\, London N22 6UJ The Karamel vegan kitchen will be serving food until 9.30pm.
