SUMMARY:Pete Whittaker-Mark Crooks Quartet
DESCRIPTION:A SPECIAL SUNDAY AFTERNOON OF JAZZ with Pete Whittaker\, jazz organist with Mark Crooks. \nLine-up: Mark Crooks – tenor sax\, Colin Oxley – guitar\, Matt Fishwick – drums\, Pete Whittaker – organ. \nPete Whittaker is a jazz organist based in London\, UK. Originally a piano player\, he migrated to organ after hearing the classic 1950s &60s Jimmy Smith records. As a result of immersing himself in the sound world of Jimmy Smith\, Larry Young\, Groove Holmes\, Jack mcDuff\, Jimmy McGriff etc.\, Pete has chosen to continue his musical journey in this hard-bop\, soul jazz\, funky tradition. After some years of touring with rock bands\, Pete now focusses on jazz and is currently involved in projects with some of the UK’s leading musicians. These include Theo Travis’ Double Talk\, The Filthy Six\, John Etheridge’s Blue Spirits\, Zoe Schwarz’ Blue Commotion and others. Despite his deep love of the vintage Hammond tonewheel consoles\, Pete has always had one eye on the digital clones\, though none have impressed him as much for authenticity as the Crumar Mojo which he now plays on the vast majority of his gigs and several recent recordings. \nDoors open 2pm\, music from 3pm. \nFree Entry. Please RSVP via ticket link. \nFrom 1pm\, the Karamel Vegan Kitchen will be open and serving food\, an offering Vegan Sunday Roast. If you’d like to book a table\, please email karamel8775@gmail.com with the group size and arrival time.
